Que Club roars back into life in February

Que Club roared back into life in February beginning with the election of a new board for 2024. Kath Whitchurch, a marvellous leader who led the club with great success, as well as much fun and laughter, handed over the reins to Karen Ritchie, and the members are looking forward eagerly to another service filled, happy year.

For those of you who don't know Que, we are a not-for-profit organisation which supports our communities with an emphasis on hearing, speech and well-being. In recent years we have been equipping schools in our shire with Red Cat sound systems.

Not only do these assist the hearing-impaired children to hear, but teachers were also clearly heard, without having to speak too loudly even at the back of the classrooms, and the quieter classrooms benefitted all the students.

We are delighted that we have filled this need and have decided now to support the Life Education Program which is Australia's largest provider of preventative health and drug education to school children.

Life education has a special mobile classroom fitted out to enchant young children and which features Healthy Harold the giraffe - a lovable, caring and loyal friend and passionate advocate for the health and safety of all Australian children and families.

Of course we will continue many of our current projects such as providing backpacks filled with necessities to schools, giving art lessons at Southern Cross, subsidising hearing and speech testing at PECC and staging community events such as the Parkes Open Gardens and the annual International Women's Day Luncheon which this year will be held on Sunday, March 10.

On International Women's Day we both celebrate the achievements of women and consider how much more we need to do in this field, and we encourage all women to aim high in their lives. To this end we also have several Parkes students, and often their principals with them as our special guests.

Que welcomes new members, so if you'd like to know more you can find us on Facebook or give me a call on 0407 894 498.
