AMAZING end-of-year adventures for Forbes North kinders

There's no end-of-year slowing down for the kinders at Forbes North Public School, they have been out and about exploring and learning in a fun and educational series of mini excursions.

They've visited our emergency services, eaten out, toured local sights and more.

Vice principal Donna McCarthy, who has been coordinating the visits, said the students have been loving it.

Over a series of four weeks, they have visited the police, ambulance and fire stations, eaten with chopsticks and made their own pizzas.

It's been a wonderful celebration of their first year of school.

"They've done an amazing job," Mrs McCarthy said.

The excursions have mixed fun and learning in the best way: from our paramedics they learned everything from the importance of knowing your address and snake bite first aid, to the fun of bandage races.

"We made our pizzas at the pizza house which was very exciting," Mrs McCarthy said, and the next week they visited a Chinese restaurant.

"We've been studying cultures throughout the year and different foods, we had a few traditional Chinese dishes and got to use chopsticks.

"It was actually surprising how much the kids liked it ... they really liked it."

A scavenger hunt through the town centre had the kids identifying local heritage buildings and important sites, and they couldn't go past the opportunity to bus out to AMAZING and pose for a photo.

The excursions have inspired the students back in the classroom as well with so much able to connect to the curriculum.

They've been writing about their experiences, and in maths they even made a graph based on their favourite food from the Chinese restaurant where they had lunch.

"They're just so excited," Mrs McCarthy said.

A visit to our Museum and a movie at the cinema will round out the year with a real treat for this class.

The tours have lined up with the Link Up to School program where the kinders of 2025 come in and see their classrooms and get used to the school environment, so as this class get ready to take their next steps in big school a whole new group is preparing to start their journey.
